Dreaming
In early 2018 I started painting my dreams in virtual reality. I realised virtual reality was a tool that could allow us to relive environments and situations created by our dreams.
I had long since been an active dreamer, and had a fascination with dreams. When I was ~8 I started lucid dreaming, become self aware in dreams and being able to wake myself up from nightmares as a way of avoiding negative experiences. I have very vivid memories of my first lucid dream, and some good memories of those to follow.
Sooner after I developed the ability to intentionally wake myself up at precise times. Consistently waking up at varying set times in the middle of the night or early morning.
By this stage, I could become aware I was dreaming, wake myself up, but dreams were mostly controlled by my subconscious. Often heading in whatever direction I thought about weather or not it was intentional. Throughout my teens I mostly used my ability to predictably wake up as a productivity hack.
Mum had caught me sleep talking in a bit in primary school. I have one very vivid memory of talking to mum in dream, than waking up and finding in reality she was have a conversation with me about something else.
I grew up sharing a room with my little brother. My mum has caught me and my brother sleep talking to each other.
Eventually I started sleep walking. I don't have much memory of this, other than stories my family has told me
In my 20s I started experimenting with having more control over my dreams, and started recording my dreams in text to help increase my memories of them.
In 2018, at 25 I started painting my dreams in virtual reality.
In 2019 I started experimenting with assisted / collaborative lucid dreaming and exploring different understandings of what dreams are or could be.
Including:
Control of lucid dreams.
Lucid dreaming with other people.
Communication while dreaming.
